Rangoli design exhibition

Almost every religion
has a special festival celebration. Hindu religions are no exception of them.
Rangoli is one of the special parts of their religion which is done on Diwali.
Rangoli is the process of furnishing the pattern with different types of colors
which make them colorful, attractive, and gorgeous. Rangoli is done to welcome
the Hindu goddess of wealth, Lakshmi, in the belief that it will bring good
luck in their life. Although it originated in India, it is celebrated in almost
all the places of the world where Hindu religious people are living. Rangoli
patterns are also done during Hindu festivals, special occasions, religious
celebrations, weddings, etc. Embroidery sectors use this Rangoli pattern for
enriching their sectors.

Places
Rangoli patterns can be
done on the floor in the front part (doorstep) of the house or on a board that
has the convenience of transferring from one place to another easily. Sometimes
Diya lamps are placed next to Rangoli which also increases its beauty. In
embroidery, it is drawn on the base cloth.
Designs of the Rangoli
Based on the size, the
Rangoli pattern may be small or large. Sometimes competition among various
Rangoli groups is occurred to determine which group has made the big-sized
Rangoli.
Most of the time
Rangoli has mirror-like structures but it also includes feature like flowers,
natural animals, and images which is done with the help of a single line and
curved line. The symmetry of the designs presents fortune, wealth, and
success.
Process and Components of Rangoli
At first, the structure
or pattern of Rangoli is drawn on the floor or board with chalk and the pattern is filled
with fascinating colors.
The components which
are used for Rangoli are not too expensive even indigent people are able to do
this with the ingredients available to them. In the embroidery sector, they use
different types of threads for sewing the pattern. Ingredients that can be used
for Rangoli after dying with different types of colors are-

- Synthetic pigments
- Tree bark and other plants
- Colored powders
- Uncooked grains of rice
- Flour and sand used wet or dry
Types of Rangolies
- Easy rangolis: This
type of rangolis was performed by the ancestor which is easy to do. In
this, some simple designs are done with simple colors.
- Intermediate rangolis: These types
of designs are larger and difficult to do because dimensional physical and
mathematical expressions are used in a complex and curved way.
- Advanced rangolis: These
designs are done mainly for a special occasion which includes a specific
theme for the pattern. These designs are more attractive and fascinating
in look.
Colors for Rangolis:
Almost all types of color (bright &dull) are used for Rangoli designs. But, bright-colored designs look more attractive and eye-soothing. Rangoli Color Set Combo is Green, Yellow, Dark Violet, Pink, Peacock Color, Sky Blue, Luminant Green, Violet, Brown, Light Green, Red, Orange, Mango Yellow, Dark Green, Dark Pink, etc. Embroidery with these colored threads also gives a colorful appearance to the Rangooli designs. Sometimes, small to large mirrors, silk tassels, cowries shells, silver spangles, glass beads, ribbons, and coins are frequently used in Rangoli embroidery work to give it a shiny aspect that attracts people's attention.

How to do amazing kadai kamal stitch design, केवल सही सिलाई
Kamal Kadai:
Embroidery
is the art of embellishing fabric or other material by applying thread
using a needle. Based on the texture and the designs of the fabric and stitch
embroidery designs are various types. Among the various types of trendy
embroidery in India and Pakistan, kamal Kadai is one of them. Kamal Kadai which
looks like a lotus flower is also called lotus embroidery in India and Pakistan.
It is considered local in Andhra Pradesh.
Kamal Kadai
resembles an embroidery of western named Teneriffe lace work. The origins of
kamal Kadai and Teneriffe's lacework are different. The pattern of the Teneriffe
lace work is elaborative and for Kamal Kadai is easy and simple.
The
floral leaves of the design are the widest in the center and lower on both sides of
the design slightly looking like staircases. There are four or five floral
patterns with wavy stems.
Types/Variety
Kamal Kadai's design may be the twisted
center or open center. Some use an even number of spokes and some use an odds one. When
one uses the odds number of spokes at the end of each spoke/flower leaf, one can
add beads. This bead not only presents a heart-touching decoration but also
wrapped the spokes of the kamal Kadai.
Uses
Kamal
Kadai can be used in various types of dresses such as Shari, Veil, Kami, wall mate, etc.
Stitches:
The woven trellis stitch is mainly
used for the leaves and flowers of kamal Kandi along with other stitches to
complete the designs. Sometimes beads and gemstone are used to decorate the
designs.

Satin Stitch Embroidery
Embroidery has been
practiced in many parts of the world since ancient times. The long-lasting life
of embroidery has given many varieties of it. Different types of needles,
threads, stitches, and patterns have been invented as a result of their higher
demand around the world. Dresses are ours every day part and parcel. And
embroidery has added a special feature to it.
Among various types of
stitches, satin stitch is mostly used in hand embroidery. Satin stitch is
mainly used for filling any part/shape of the embroidery.
The procedure of Satin Stitch Embroidery
The needle with thread
should bring up through the base cloth at one end of the shape. Then insert the
needle on the opposite side of the shape of the base cloth. Repeat this process
for more stitches.
If there is more than
one stitch make sure that they don’t get twisted with each other.
Types of Satin Stitches
ü Brick Stitch
In this, the satin
stitch is done like a brick line effect in which one stitch is larger about two
times than the smaller ones. Here, the patterns are divided into many parts. By
using various kinds/colors of stitches shading can be done.
ü Leaf Stitch
In
this, leaf patterns are divided into two parts vertically and each part is
filled with satin stitches which gives the leaves a more representational look.
ü Whipped Satin Stitch
When a satin stitch is "spun"
over with a differing thread it is called whipped satin stitch.
ü Encroaching Satin Stitch
If
the patterns are too big, encroaching satin stitches can be used. The patterns
are divided into various parts horizontally or vertically. Each part is filled
with a satin stitch. The crucial point to keep in mind is that the next row's
satin stitch will always start between the first two stitches of the preceding
row.
ü Surface Satin Stitch
This stitch is mainly done for KanthaWork. Surface stitch needs less stitch, for this reason, it is economical to
use.
ü Padded Satin Stitch
In
this stitch, firstly the base is adjusted with a little bead. The bases can be
filled totally or scattered filling can also be done. A slightly thicker
outline can also be done for the convenience of the padded satin stitch.
Uses of Satin Stitches
Satin stitches are used
for Nakshi Kantha, Sharee, Kamij, Shirts, t-shirts, Cushion covers, bed sheets,
hats, veils, etc.
Designs of Satin Stitches
By using Satin Stitches
various types of designs/shapes can be given. It can stitch basic designs,
flowers, animal features, stems, human shapes, leaves, the shape of different
features, etc.
Problems of Satin Stitches
- It has a difficulty in maintaining the tidiness of the border of the pattern. One can avoid this problem by ensuring the border of the pattern with the help of any other stitches such as chain stitch, back stitch, outline stitch, split stitch, and other stitches that seems suitable for this. Another caution is not to pull the thread too tightly so that it will distort the foundation cloth. To eliminate this problem, the foundation cloth should be kept tight by using an embroidery band.
- If the pattern is too long it will be divided into many parts and smaller satin stitches should be used to fill them.
- Less space should be kept between stitches because spaces won’t give the filling appearance of the designs.
