Almost every religion
has a special festival celebration. Hindu religions are no exception of them.
Rangoli is one of the special parts of their religion which is done on Diwali.
Rangoli is the process of furnishing the pattern with different types of colors
which make them colorful, attractive, and gorgeous. Rangoli is done to welcome
the Hindu goddess of wealth, Lakshmi, in the belief that it will bring good
luck in their life. Although it originated in India, it is celebrated in almost
all the places of the world where Hindu religious people are living. Rangoli
patterns are also done during Hindu festivals, special occasions, religious
celebrations, weddings, etc. Embroidery sectors use this Rangoli pattern for
enriching their sectors.

Places
Rangoli patterns can be
done on the floor in the front part (doorstep) of the house or on a board that
has the convenience of transferring from one place to another easily. Sometimes
Diya lamps are placed next to Rangoli which also increases its beauty. In
embroidery, it is drawn on the base cloth.
Designs of the Rangoli
Based on the size, the
Rangoli pattern may be small or large. Sometimes competition among various
Rangoli groups is occurred to determine which group has made the big-sized
Rangoli.
Most of the time
Rangoli has mirror-like structures but it also includes feature like flowers,
natural animals, and images which is done with the help of a single line and
curved line. The symmetry of the designs presents fortune, wealth, and
success.
Process and Components of Rangoli
At first, the structure
or pattern of Rangoli is drawn on the floor or board with chalk and the pattern is filled
with fascinating colors.
The components which
are used for Rangoli are not too expensive even indigent people are able to do
this with the ingredients available to them. In the embroidery sector, they use
different types of threads for sewing the pattern. Ingredients that can be used
for Rangoli after dying with different types of colors are-

- Synthetic pigments
- Tree bark and other plants
- Colored powders
- Uncooked grains of rice
- Flour and sand used wet or dry
Types of Rangolies
- Easy rangolis: This
type of rangolis was performed by the ancestor which is easy to do. In
this, some simple designs are done with simple colors.
- Intermediate rangolis: These types
of designs are larger and difficult to do because dimensional physical and
mathematical expressions are used in a complex and curved way.
- Advanced rangolis: These
designs are done mainly for a special occasion which includes a specific
theme for the pattern. These designs are more attractive and fascinating
in look.
Colors for Rangolis:
Almost all types of color (bright &dull) are used for Rangoli designs. But, bright-colored designs look more attractive and eye-soothing. Rangoli Color Set Combo is Green, Yellow, Dark Violet, Pink, Peacock Color, Sky Blue, Luminant Green, Violet, Brown, Light Green, Red, Orange, Mango Yellow, Dark Green, Dark Pink, etc. Embroidery with these colored threads also gives a colorful appearance to the Rangooli designs. Sometimes, small to large mirrors, silk tassels, cowries shells, silver spangles, glass beads, ribbons, and coins are frequently used in Rangoli embroidery work to give it a shiny aspect that attracts people's attention.

Rangoli design
embroidery is mostly used in heavy embroidery work. The Rangoli designs are used in
Lahenga, Sharee, Kamij, neck designs, veil, Punjabi, borderline, Blouse,
t-shirts, etc.

women have a habit of embroidery during their relaxation which is traditional.
They are doing this not only for their personal uses; such as dresses, and Nakshi Katha, but also it can be a source of their income. The women of Gujrat;
the eminent city of Punjab, are no longer exceptions from this habit of
embroidery, even some of the craftsmen can also be seen there. The city is
famous for variations in embroidery work and always trying to bring new designs
and ideas to attract more businessmen for their creative and decorated
embroidery work. Sindhi embroidery is one of them.
The specialty of Sindhi Embroidery
Merging
Impressive color, excellent stitching methods, and distinguished needlework
which illustrates elegance and delicateness has given the Sindhi work specific
feature. The stitches are intact together so closely in some part of the
embroidery designs that it almost covers most of the foundation part which turn
it firm, rigid and stiff. Sindhi embroidery work often contains tiny to big
mirrors, silk tassels, cowries shells, silver spangles, and glass beads,
ribbons, and coins that give an amusing and glossy appearance which assists to
draw the attention of businessmen and persons.
Types of Stitches
The
various types of stitches used for Sindhi Embroidery work are straight, satin,
chain, buttonhole, open chain, couched straight, interlacing couched, laid
threads, over sewing, crossed herringbone, darning, fly and stem, herringbone
work, buttonhole stitching, interlacing stitching, and even the darning stitch.
But the chain stitch is mostly used for this work.
Kinds of Designs
Various
types of designs can be done in Sindhi Embroidery work. The different types of
artwork are - The artwork done on flaps.
The artwork was done on the covers of the furniture.
A kind of geometric pattern is done on clothes.
Creating animal-inspired motifs
like peacocks etc.
The use of small mirrors embedded within the
threadwork.
Colors and clothes used for Sindhi Embroidery Work
Different
types of shades of color such as red, blue, green, white, black, orange,
turquoise, violet, pink, and indigo can be used for Sindhi Embroidery. Although
this work is mainly done on silky clothes, dyed clothes and printed materials
can also be used as foundation cloth for Sindhi embroidery.
Dresses Suitable for Sindhi Embroidery
Sindhi
embroidery can be used as a borderline, sleeve line, and the neckline of the
dresses, in the full body of the Kamij or share, hat, bed sheet, blouse, wall
mate by giving different animal features, shirts, t-shirts, etc.
The
ornaments and colorful patterns depicting various role such as leaves,
flowering shrubs, flowers, arches, fans, Polka dots (butis), elephants,
peacock, canopies, parrots, and also human figures gives a fascinating and

embroidery have been invented. Sewing of borderline is one of the varieties that is used in a vast amount in the embroidery field. Almost all types of dresses can
ornate by decorating the borderline with colorful thread. Even sewing the
dresses borderline with a variety of colorful threads gives a wonderful
structure of attracting people to buy the dresses.
Sectors of Borderline Embroidery
Border design
embroidery can be used in a vast amount of sectors. The sectors are Frocks, kids
dresses, Sharee Borderline, Neckline of Kamij, Kurti, kurta; Sleeve border,
Hijab, Quilt, Bed sheet, Shirt, t-shirts, Photoframe, Border of Winter Clothes,
Nakshi Kantha Designs, etc. Borderline designs can also be used in the middle
of the dresses along with the border parts of the dresses.
Components of Borderline Embroidery
Diversified elements
can be used in Borderline Embroidery which gives a royal look to the dresses.
The elements such as stone, sip, Wire Frames, Jump Rings, Lobster Clasps,
Assembled Necklaces, Crystals & Chatons, and lace are used with thread for
sewing the Borderline.
Designs of Borderline Embroidery
Borderline patterns
were mainly drawn in small flowers with a stem which gives a vine-like
structure to the dress. Besides this, large-size flowers, Bud with Leaf,
different geometric structures, half-moon structures, Full moon structures,
Star structures, etc. are also found in Borderline Embroidery.
Stitches of Borderline Embroidery
Stitches used in
borderline embroidery are chain stitch, Satin stitch, Lazy Daisy stitch,
Running stitch, Backstitch, Stem stitch, French knot stitch, Bullion Knot stitch,
Fly stitch, Fish Bone stitch, Bead stitch, Grouped Blanket stitch, Spoke
stitch, couching over rug yarn stitch, woven cross stitch, Long and Short
blanket stitch, Herringbone stitch, couching, etc.
Threads of Borderline Embroidery
Threads of different
varieties give different amusing scenes in Borderline Embroidery. Threads in
use for Borderline Embroidery are Stranded Embroidery Cotton, Perle Cotton,
Wool, Metallic, Silk, Novelty Threads, Variegated, Rayon, Overdyed threads,
Crochet, Floche, Ribbons, etc.
